A quick read with great resonance.

Written initally by Greene purely as preparation for the screenplay that would star Orson Welles, this novella is now recognised as one of his finest, delivering his trademark fusion of atmosphere and philosophical potency. His excellent 'The Fallen Idol' is also included here.

Journey Without Maps by Graham Greene
- Price: £8.99 Add to Basket
- In 1936, the master of English fiction Graham Greene undertook a journey into the little explored West African republic of Liberia. Greene was young, inexperienced and heading into a territory that was simply marked, on one US Government map of the time, with the word "cannibals". Less of an adventure story, more of a serious traveller's history exploring issues of colonialism and politics.
-
Our Man in Havana by Graham Greene
- Price: £7.99 Add to Basket
- One of Greene's 'entertainments', as he called them, this is a wonderfully comic and atmospheric novel with a wicked satirical edge. Mr Wormold is a solemn vacuum cleaner salesman, watching his daughter fritter away his savings around Havana. When a mysterious Englishman offers him work as a spy, things become even more complicated. Famously appearing to predict the Cuban Missile Crisis, this is top-notch.
