Thomas Harding, author of the best-selling Hanns and Rudolf and The House by the Lake, has woven a tense non-fiction thriller from the shocking details of Alan Chappelow’s 2006 murder in leafy Hampstead. At its centre is a reclusive victim, apparently killed by a Chinese dissident whose guilt was established in a largely secret, questionable trial. Thomas Harding’s pacy, forensic and disturbing account sheds new light where MI6 and their masters would prefer lasting shade.
Philippe Sands QC, author of the award winning East West Street, discusses the case with Thomas.
