Since William Sieghart first had the idea of suggesting short, powerful poems for all manner of spiritual ailments, he has filled more than 1000 prescriptions at live events, in the Guardian and on Radio and TV. His beautiful pocket-sized book, The Poetry Pharmacy, dispenses comfort, delight and inspiration and is truly a first-aid kit for the soul – essential cures for common woes, from heartache to hopelessness.
William Sieghart established the Forward Prizes for Poetry in 1992, and founded National Poetry Day in 1994.
