Wednesday 20th September at 7:00pm | Daunt Books Marylebone | Tickets £10.00
With books like Gulag and Iron Curtain, Pulitzer Prize-winner Anne Applebaum has established herself as one of the finest historians of eastern Europe. In Red Famine she examines the Soviet famine of 1922-23, brought on by Stalin’s collectivisation drive. Nearly four million Ukrainians were deliberately starved in this devastating episode retold here in a triumph of scholarship and human sympathy.
Anna Reid is herself an author and historian who has written extensively on Eastern Europe; her books include the magnificent Borderland on the Ukraine and its history.
