Join other book-lovers for a walk on Hampstead Heath to discuss Elizabeth Taylor's beautifully observed novel A View of the Harbour.
Amateur artist Bertram Hemingway has come to the faded seaside town of Newby to paint 'a view of the harbour' ... and to prey on the vulnerable women who live there. Elizabeth Taylor gives her own picture of this sleepy town, revealing the many dreams and secrets, passions and fears - with their accompanying tension and gossip - that exist behind the peeling front doors and net curtains. As Taylor moves deftly amongst her eclectic cast of characters, one cannot help but marvel at her pitch perfect ear for dialogue, keen eye for detail and cool, understated prose.
'An eye as sharply all-seeing as her prose-style is elegant - even the humdrum becomes astonishing.' – Daily Telegraph
