Wednesday 24th May at 7:00pm | Daunt Books Marylebone | Tickets £10.00
With fine works like Meadowland, John Lewis-Stempel has established himself in the front-rank of writers on the English countryside. The Running Hare: The Secret life of Farmland, newly published in paperback, is truly nature writing at its most informative and lyrical. In it he tells the story of his enlightened stewardship of one particular field and the plants and animals it becomes home to, and through it he traces the wider history of the English field which is really the story of our landscape and of us, a people for whom the plough has informed every part of our life: our language and religion, our holidays and our food.
John is joined by Melissa Harrison, acclaimed novelist and author of Rain: Four Walks in English Weather.
