Tuesday 23rd May at 12:30pm | Daunt Books Marylebone | Tickets £10.00
Richard Ford is one of the most acclaimed writers of our age, winning numerous awards for his international best-selling short stories and novels, including the Pulitzer Prize and PEN/Faulkner award for Independence Day, the sequel to his breakthrough work, The Sportswriter.
We are thrilled that he is joining us to discuss Between Them, his first work of non-fiction and a deeply personal account of his parents. They volunteered little about their early lives – and he rarely asked. Later, he pieced their stories together from anecdote, history and the occasional photograph, frozen moments linking him to another time. The result, written with the intelligence, precision and humanity for which he is renowned, evokes a vivid panorama of mid-twentieth century America, and an intimate portrait of family life.
We welcome literary critic Gaby Wood to talk to Richard about the book. Gaby is the Literary Director to the Booker Prize Foundation and former head of books at The Daily Telegraph.
